Contract Instructor (5) positions available. (Open until filled)

This is a contract instructor position and compensation will be project based. This position will be scheduled as needed. We are looking to hire instructors in all areas of the State of Ohio and beyond. 

 

Members of our team will instruct and evaluates classes in the following areas: fire science, fire protection, fire prevention, theory of code enforcement, fire inspection techniques, and firefighter fundamentals & skills.

 

Instructors will ensure student safety in classroom and during any hands-on training. Conducts skill testing, written testing and reviews, analyzes and evaluates training programs.

 

Must have knowledge of the following;
A strong understanding of the Ohio Fire Code, International fire code, NFPA 1 or NFPA 101, firefighting safety practices, fire/building inspector (code enforcement) and/or firefighting curriculum. Basic understanding in the operation of audio/visual equipment and the ability to interpret extensive variety of technical material in books, journals & manuals.

Specialized training in a specific subject or subject area relevant to Fire Inspection Code Enforcement, Fire Service Training, Fire Service Administration, Fire Protection, Building Codes & Construction, Plans Review, and general Life Safety (just to name a few). 

 

Preferred Qualifications*:

 

IFSAC / PROBOARD - Fire Inspector I, II, III, Fire Instructor I, II, III, Fire Officer I, II, III

 

Associates degree

 

Minimum of 10 years in Fire/Building Inspection - Code Enforcement

 

Minimum of 5 years Experience in adult education and training

 

Certified by the Ohio Department of Public Safety in the following areas;

 

OAC - 4765-20-03 Certified Fire Safety Inspector

 

OAC - 4765-20-02 Certified Firefighter (any level)

 

OAC - 4765-21-03 Certification to teach Fire Service Training

 

OAC - 4765-21-03 Certification to teach Fire Safety Inspector Training

 

*Not meeting the preferred qualifications does not disqualify you from becoming part of our team. If you have a certain skill set, specific knowledge, or are a subject matter expert in areas that would meet our mission and goals, than you are welcome to apply. Example: a Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) may not have a firefighter certification, however, the knowledge a FPE has is invaluable to our mission and that would make him/her an ideal candidate.
